Wire Decking: A Storage Solution
Wire decking is a wire mesh used as shelving in warehouses, and spans the distance between beams to hold pallets or products. Wire decking is usually made of heavy grade steel wire welded together with reinforcing bars under the mesh.
Wire decking is made to fit step rack beams and box beams – step rack beams have a lip that catches a support beam, while box beams do not. The wire decking wraps around the beams, preventing them from spreading apart and reinforcing the storage structure.
Advantages of Wire Decking
Wire decking has several advantages over other types of storage shelving:

* Most wire decking has a powder coating that makes it look very clean and new for a long time. Dust and dirt can’t accumulate on the shelves.

* It can be purchased used, new, or custom manufactured, and you can use a combination of new and old to meet your needs.
* You may be able to sell your old decking, recovering some of its cost.
* It doesn’t block air flow, making heating, ventilation, and cooling easier and less costly.
* It is easy to see what product is on hand.
* It is very cost effective.
Wire decking makes a warehouse or storage facility safer for the employees, but when choosing wire decking, make sure you are getting what you need. If you already have beams, make sure the decking fits your beams, as there are several types. Also, make sure you get wire decking that is sturdy enough and will bear the weight you need it to.
Using this type of decking allows you to have an open, airy storage facility that is easy to heat and cool. It is extremely cost-effective, durable, and able to hold a lot of weight. Your employees will be able to spend their time more profitably, too, since they won’t have to spend as much time cleaning or hunting for things that they can’t readily see. Wire decking is an excellent storage solution.
